Challenge
For my challenge, I chose to put together a production of Caryl Churchills play, The Skriker. I have done this alongside 4 other girls. We work on this piece for an average of 3 hours a week. Each of us has an equal role in the piece as many of the characters are meant to be played as an ensemble. The play is very physically demanding as it is in the style of physical theatre, thus, lots of body strength and stamina is needed to keep up with the pace of the performance.
In this picture, a clear struggle is shown! But we have overcome this by ensuring the trolley is padded for our comfort and we warm up and do some exercise before rehearsals.
A favourite thing for us as a group to do is develop characters. We try different accents and body language to portray how we think the characters should be, this character is how I portrayed a derelict, rough, old woman. I also spoke with a husky, Yorkshire accent and moved by shuffling slowly.
It's early days as we are performing this final piece in April to an audience of about 20 in a Drama room fully equipped with lighting and set.
